MacBook Air M3
The MacBook Air M3 is the laptop I recommend to 90% of people who ask. The M3 chip handles everything a normal person needs — browsing, productivity, photo editing, even light video editing — without ever spinning up a fan. It's completely silent. 18 hours of battery life means you genuinely leave the charger at home. The 13.6" Liquid Retina display is gorgeous with 500 nits brightness and P3 wide color. 8GB unified memory handles multitasking effortlessly (16GB if you're a power user). At 2.7 lbs and 11.3mm thin, it's lighter than most textbooks. MagSafe charging is back (relief), and you get two Thunderbolt ports, a headphone jack, and a 1080p webcam. The midnight color is stunning but shows fingerprints — go with starlight or silver.
Why we picked this
The best laptop for most people — period. Fast, silent, and lasts all day.
